Tender Details

This contract is for the engagement of a professional mechanical services contractor to undertaken investigation and assessment of the existing systems as well as associated reporting and advice, determination of work scope, budgeting, design, documentation, programming and to assist during the construction phase of the project.

The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre (the Centre) was first opened in May 1988 and comprised the Exhibition Centre, Convention Centre and the Link building between the two containing the Kitchen and Administrative offices.

In 1998 the Parkside development was completed, incorporating the original Link building and introducing Auditorium, Meeting rooms and Ball Room.  As part of this development a sixth exhibition hall was also created.

Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority plans to undertake a major upgrade of the existing mechanical systems serving the Convention and Exhibition Centres by replacement, refurbishment and upgrade of the aging plant and equipment.   As part of the works, various known problems with regard to the performance of the systems will be addressed and alternative plant and equipment solutions will be considered.

The mechanical systems, some now operating for at least 22 years, are considered generally to be approaching the end of their economic life and the system is no longer performing to a standard considered acceptable for the facility to compete commercially in the marketplace.

The total refurbishment project will be undertaken over a three year timeframe, due to the progressive availability of funding. During the refurbishment the operation of the facility needs to be maintained.
