Macquarie Park is identified as a Strategic Centre in A Plan for Growing Sydney. The Plan’s priorities for Macquarie Park include, amongst other things:
- Work with Ryde Council to retain a commercial core in Macquarie Park for long-term employment growth
- Work with Ryde Council to concentrate capacity for additional mixed-use development around train stations, including retail, services and housing
- Investigate potential future opportunities for housing in areas within walking distance of train stations
- Investigate opportunities to deliver a finer grain road network in Macquarie Park
These priorities point towards the Strategic Centre evolving from a business park into a higher amenity centre with significant employment growth supported by a broader range of land uses.
