Tender Details
The production, processing and distribution of fresh milk in NSW had been regulated under state government legislation since the early 1930s. In 1998, state regulation of the pricing and zoning arrangements for processing and distribution ceased. In 2000, state regulation of the pricing and supply management from farm to processor ceased. This brought a radical change to the structure and operation of the dairy industry in NSW.
Under its charter of educating the public on the value of milk and the dairy industry to the community, Milk Marketing (NSW) Pty Ltd is undertaking a project to record the history of the deregulation of the dairy industry in NSW. It is intended that this would include the major driving forces leading to deregulation, the process of deregulation, and the impact of deregulation (economic, social and political) on all relevant sectors of the industry and community. In addition, consideration would be given to the policy lessons to be learned from the way the deregulation process was understood, managed and carried out.
It is intended that the above history would be recorded and presented in the form of a published book of approximately 100,000 words of text and approximately 100 photographs or other illustrative material. The scope of the work covered by this Expression of Interest includes, broadly, the research for and preparation of a written manuscript recording the above history, and submitted in electronic form ready for submission to a publisher.
