DPI wishes to dredge the Clyde River entrance bar located at Batemans Bay.
The dredging footprint is based on the bathymetric survey carried out on 2 August 2011 as shown in Drawing 1. Tide and swell conditions have most likely changed bar conditions since that date, so a pre-dredge survey will be required.
The sand disposal sites are shown in Figure 1 in the tender documents. The preferred sand disposal Site 1 is along 320m of the back beach at Corrigans Beach.
The project is to refurbish and raise low dunes opposite the Batemans Bay Beach Resort. An area seawards of the dune site is available for dewatering in a series of bunds which would require restoration under this contract. Any residue of sand would be dewatered, stabilised and stored at the Hanging Rock Reserve at Site 2 for later use by others.
The dredge site at the Clyde River mouth extends from about 180 metres from the tip of the training wall at the northern end of Corrigans Beach. It is estimated that the dredge volume is approximately 5,800 to 8,200 m3. The Contractor should include a rate for extra dredging that the principal may request after the contract is let. This would be limited to an additional volume of 4,000 m3.
Contract period is of a duration of 12 weeks.
The contract will not be awarded until mid January 2012.
