Tender Details

The Operational Critical Data Network (‘OCDN’) is the Sydney Trains carrier grade, telecommunications backbone network. The Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (‘DWDM’) equipment provides high capacity long-haul data communications for Sydney Trains by transporting the OCDN and Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (‘SDH’) network traffic.  It is an operationally critical system for Sydney Trains and its scalability in network capacity makes it significant to support the growth in Transport services and management of fibre capacity.

The existing DWDM equipment will be approaching end-of-life commencing from 2018 onwards and will require replacement. Sydney Trains intends to replace the various DWDM nodes over a three year period to coincide with the required replacement dates.
