Tender Details

The Principal operates one of the largest (geographically) metropolitan rail systems in the world. An average of one million rail journeys are made each day on the Principal’s network during the business week on a fleet of 2,191 electric and diesel carriages, travelling on 1,643km of network track, 1,576km of overhead wiring and stopping at 178 stations. In addition the Principal maintains infrastructure operated by NSW Trains.

The Principal is responsible for managing assets valued in excess of $37 billion, including rolling stock, stations and rail and electrical infrastructure. The Principal is responsible for providing regular passenger transport services, ticketing, passenger information, maintenance services, communications and control systems, ICT and technology services and performing a range of corporate governance and management activities.

Network Maintenance Division (NMD) is a division within the Engineering & Maintenance Directorate of Sydney Trains. NMD delivers routine maintenance on the civil, signal, electrical and control system assets of the metropolitan passenger rail network. NMD also co-ordinates infrastructure incident response. NMD’s maintains the Railcorp Electrical Distribution Network including maintaining vegetation clearances.

The purpose of this RFT is to set out the Principal’s requirement for a survey of aerial portion of the Railcorp Electrical Distribution Network (HV Network) to include:

  • undertake aerial LiDAR survey and conduct an audit of vegetation clearances and provide defect reports;

  • provide high resolution digital photographs of the aerial network, poles and associated hardware, assess the condition and provide a defect report

    Tenderers will be required to demonstrate their experience in carrying out the required services as per Sydney Trains’ requirements. The evaluation criteria in the Request for Tender document sets out the information that Tenderers are required to submit.

    The Principal will conduct an optional tender briefing session for prospective tenderers on Friday 22/9/2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM. The briefing session details have been provided in the tender invitation document.

    Tenderers are requested to advise of their intention to attend the briefing session by sending an email to tenderinfo@transport.nsw.gov.au no later than 2 days prior to the time specified above.

    Tenderers are requested to provide details of the people attending the meeting. It is appreciated if Tenderers limit the number of representatives to 2 people.

    Please allow enough time prior to the meeting to sign in the attendance sheet.
